Learner Characteristics and Nursing Education Topic Analysis

Learning Characteristics and Nursing Education Topic
For this Performance Task Assessment, you will complete a Learning Characteristics and Nursing Education Topic Analysis in which you will analyze how learner characteristics influence lesson design. You will address a topic in nursing education and propose how you would address these characteristics when developing a lesson. You will also describe their impact on lesson delivery, and the ethical or technological considerations that may be associated with the learner characteristics you analyzed.
Assessment: Learner Characteristics and Nursing Education Topic Analysis

In your role, you may instruct nursing staff in a professional development capacity, nursing students in the classroom, or individual patients or caregivers in a care setting. Choose a topic in nursing that can be taught to the three different learner groups identified: nursing students, nursing staff, and patient/caregiver.
The topic you choose will be adapted to each learner group. Your topic can be an action or intervention (for example, a medication, diet, or lifestyle change related to nursing care). You can also consider topics not associated with an action or intervention such as lateral violence, end-of-life decision making, etc.
You may use the curriculum design from NURS 6321 as a basis for establishing your topic and lesson, or you may choose a new topic. This topic will be woven throughout the Area of Expertise as you develop a lesson plan, consider ethical issues, explore technology tools, and determine how you will evaluate learning on the topic.

Identify a nursing education topic. Additionally, for each of the three learner groups (i.e., nursing students, nursing staff, and patient/caregiver), select and describe one learner characteristic. A disability must be one of the selected learner characteristics.
Explain how you would address the learner characteristics when developing a lesson for the topic for each of the learner groups. Be specific and provide examples. * NOTE: The response must synthesize and integrate at least two outside resources and two competency-specific resources that fully support the responses provided.
Explain how different learner characteristics might impact the delivery of your lesson. Be specific and provide examples. * NOTE: The response must synthesize and integrate at least two outside resources and two competency-specific resources that fully support the responses provided.
Explain any ethical or technological considerations that may be associated with each of the three selected learner characteristics. Be specific and provide examples. * NOTE: The response must synthesize and integrate at least two outside resources and two competency-specific resources that fully support the responses provided.
